Two New Gigs Confirmed – Band Night and London Welsh

With all the excitement of the new EP over the weekend, a couple of gig confirmations were almost overlooked:

Click on each of the gigs for more information.

Please come down and support Episode, especially at London Welsh as all money goes to the club which is struggling to raise money. Tickets for the London Welsh gig must be bought in advance from Charlie, Luke Dorking or Jaime Goldie.

Heatham House band night is free.

See you there!

More info on Monday’s EP

Handle With Caution artwork

Things are starting to get exciting now, as it is just one day until recording, and we can finally reveal some information...

As you may know, songs recorded tomorrow will be My Definition, Seize the Day and One Way Ticket, if all goes smoothly. These songs have been picked because recording will take place at Turtle Studios in Wood Green, which, although cheap, is not the greatest quality, and the lead singles will be recorded at Ash Milton's studios later in the year.

Now some information you might not know. Tomorrow's three songs will be released on an EP, entitled Handle With Caution, which will be released on Monday the  25th of January 2010. This will be available to download free of charge and it will also include the album artwork and a short video made from some footage from tomorrow's session (if Mr Bar gets his way and I can edit and upload it in one day, fitting in Quins in the middle).

Some physical copies will be made but it is unlikely that these will be available to buy from the band, although I will update you on that later. We want this to be a proper EP, so you will not be able to download the songs individually, although you can stream them from the player on the right.

I hope to post tomorrow and update you of how recording is going, and you can get updates straight from the band on Twitter. Finally, I cannot be certain when the EP will be available to download, as we want you to be able to hear it as soon as we get the finished tracks back. They should be on the site by Monday evening at the latest, but there is a possibility that I will receive and upload them on Sunday evening.

See you back here on Monday.

Recording on Saturday, Gigs Update and Other News…

It's been a while since anyone's posted on here so I thought I'd bring you up to date with everything Episode related. With the band entering very probably the most exciting period yet, there are a few stories you might just want to know about...

As you may have already heard, Episode are recording THIS SATURDAY (23rd). This will be the first in a string of recording sessions, and in the next few months most of the demos for the album, Alien Is An Understatement, should be done. This is big news as for the last 8 months only two songs have been recorded and available to listen to, and from Sunday or Monday, another three songs will be added for you to download, free of course. All going well, these should be My DefinitionSeize the Day and One Way Ticket. Yes, this is the second time recording a demo of One Way Ticket, but it has been changed and updated and needs to be perfect before it gets sent off, with other songs of course, to record producers, but that's a whole other post. This also may seem a strange choice of songs, but Saturday's recording will be at Turtle Studios, which, although cheap, is not the best quality and so the lead songs from the album will be recorded at Ash Milton Studios in a few months time.

Recording will take place on Saturday and mixing should finish during Sunday, so there is a possibility that the songs may be on the website on Sunday, although they will most probably be uploaded on Monday afternoon. Subscribe by RSS, become a fan on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to receive the latest updates, and I will hopefully be able to persuade Finbar to fire off a few tweets during recording.

There has been a distinct lack of gigs this year to focus on recording, but this will hopefully soon change as Episode will probably be playing Heatham February band night, but this has not yet been confirmed. We are also looking into doing a charity gig for Haiti with other local bands, although are struggling to find a suitable free venue.

There is however a lot of flux around, so more real news when the air clears...
